ICSI, pICSI, IMSI…now there’s a new kid on the block.
Rescue ICSI(rICSI) is the process where a second attempt is made at fertilising eggs using ICSI, after conventional IVF has failed. After a systematic review of outcomes after rICSI, evidence does not support previous concerns that rICSI might result in higher levels of birth defects in children, although the data is still quite limited.
“How do I know that embryo is really mine?”
This question recently surfaced in the safe space of a patient support group — and once one person voiced it, others quickly followed. Many agreed on how unsettling it can feel to place such trust in what happens behind the closed doors of an IVF laboratory.

The annual joint fertility conference this year was a three-day immersion in all aspects of fertility, from egg freezing, world population decline and patient support, to fertility politics, effects of environmental chemicals as well as poster displays on a myriad of topics.
